Vistara is a yoga and meditation center located in the Motueka river valley, on the South Island of NZ.
At Vistara we come together to practice, support and grow, offering gentle yoga sessions, guided mediation, chanting, kiirtan and other spiritual based community events.
Yoga can give us the beautiful healing experience of simply being, deeply connecting body and mind through breath and awareness. We incorporate a variety of traditional practices in movement, breath, mantra, mindfulness and meditation to discover our own unique form of yoga practice. We believe that together we can provide support for each other and the wider community. All practices are offered by koha/donation and accessible for everyone. TRAUMA SENSITIVE YOGA
Trauma is not only an event but an experience held in the body. The body remembers injury, neglect and abuse. Trauma keeps us trapped between regretting the past and fearing the future.
Yoga and mindfulness practices are empowering with far-reaching benefits that carry over from the yoga mat and into everyday life. Yoga practice is a safe place where people can begin to reconnect with themselves, empowerment to make positive choices, and encourage self expression when something doesn’t feel right. For many, the time spent in this practice is the first time that they have been able to feel safe and breathe freely.
The yoga philosophy and the physical practice can re-educate the body and the mind, activating the para-sympathetic nervous system - your "Rest and Digest" healing mode. Our breath anchors us in the present moment, and it gives us the remarkable ability to self-regulate.
You are invited to join our classes and be supported on your individual journey. Private and Zoom classes available.

Vistara is an established, organic farm based on the yogic principles of Ananda Marga, a global, socio-spiritual organization. A safe and inspiring place, in the Motueka River Valley. The Dhara initiative is dedicated to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, struggling with PTSD. Please contact us if you need support or if you like to help with this project.
INTRODUCTION TO YOGA AND MEDITATION
Didi Anuprabha is a yogic nun and has been a teacher of yoga & meditation with Ananda Marga, an international socio-spiritual organization for over 20 years. She has been based in NZ for the past 8 years, prior to which she worked in various parts of India. Didi visits Vistara from time to time, offering an introduction to yoga & meditation based on the teachings of Shri Shri Anandamurti. Didi is available for personal guidance for women and children, sharing her wisdom with joy and dedication and tailoring a personal practice of yoga and meditation in support of your life's journey.
VEGETARIAN COOKING CLASS AND FEAST
Dada Shuddhatmananda is an Ananda Marga yogic monk. He has been based in New Zealand for the past twelve years. Dada visits Vistara from time to time, sharing his wisdom as well as his vegetarian & vegan cooking skills and recipes. Dada is available for personal guidance for men, tailoring diet, yoga and meditation practices in support of your life's journey.
